Fall Color Ride 2005

This year the Fall Color Ride was to Copper Harbor, Michigan.  We could not have asked for a better couple of days.  Very crisp air, mostly clear skies, and most of all, a tolerable level of bugs!  We did have a little hiccup in the plans trying to find a motel.  We thought "just ride up there to the middle of nowhere and find a room no sweat."  WRONG!  It just so happened that there were two weddings in Copper Harbor this weekend and it was the Orientation Weekend for Michigan Tech students.  The later meant all the hotels were booked with the parents of incoming freshman.  Fortunately, we came across a motel right when the owner decided to open up a room for a guest who was supposed to return, but didn't.

I get visitors from all over the world and I like to hear comments.  Please drop me a note on what you found interesting on my Feedback Page.

Record Snowfall - 390" !

The year before I arrived at Michigan Tech, the area had a record 390 inches of snowfall in one winter ('78-'79).  Timing is everything!

This memorial tells the story of the millions of tons of copper that come out of the mines in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
